What is a Cake Smash Session?
Cake smash sessions are the a perfect way to celebrate your baby turn ONE!
A cake smash is a fun way to celebrate this important milestone in your baby’s life. Your baby is on the move and full of curiosity. Everything they encounter is a new adventure or experience. A cake smash session is a great way to capture the curiosity and personality of your growing baby and almost always provides some fun and amazing moments which are all captured on camera.
What is a Cake Smash Session?
A cake smash session is held around a baby’s first birthday. Babies are given a cake and they are free to eat it or smash it as they please.
For many babies, this is their first taste of cake or any sugary dessert. It is fun to capture their reaction and celebrate their first birthday.
I provide the decorations for the cake smash, which includes a balloon arch in colors you choose. I also provide the cake for the session, unless your child has known allergies, then I ask you to bring the cake. You simply need to bring the birthday baby and the outfit you would like your baby to wear while smashing the cake.
When should I schedule my child’s cake smash?
Most parents like to schedule their cake smash as close as possible to their baby’s birthday. I recommend booking at least 30 days in advance in order to allow time to order the balloons and the cake for the session.
If you would like to use images for a birthday party you are hosting, please note that it takes a couple of weeks for me to edit your images, so it is important to plan accordingly when booking your session.
Do you include photos of the child before the cake smash?
Yes, absolutely. Keep in mind the set is assembled the night before, however I always take several pictures of your baby on the set before the messiness begins!
Is there something other than cake that can be used for the session?
Yes! Some babies simply don’t like cake (this is more common than you think). If you know your child is not a fan of cake, we can change it up. I have seen sessions done with pie, spaghetti, donuts, watermelon and even paints. Just let me know what you are envisioning and let’s make it happen.
What happens after the smash?
My favorite part of the session! A tub splash! I love this part of the session and I have not yet had a baby that did not love it as well. I bring out the little tub, filled with water and some organic baby bubbles and your baby has a splash party. They get clean and have a blast at the same time.
