Newborn photo sessions are oftentimes unpredictable. I have a plan in my mind before the session begins how things will go including the props I will use, the poses I will put the baby in and the flow of the session. Sometimes things do not go as planned and the baby has their own ideas. Let me introduce you to Baby Aden.

Baby Aden came into the studio with his parents. I had the pleasure of capturing photos for this family when their first baby arrived and was excited that they selected me to capture photos for their newest little family member.
Aden fell fast asleep after his mom feed him before we got started, however he did not stay asleep for long.
It is not unusual for babies to remain awake, especially at the beginning of a session, but typically they give in after a period of time due to the warmth of the room and the comfort in being wrapped, which is my secret weapon when a baby is awake. I am a self proclaimed baby whisperer!
Aden was not having any what I was selling.
He gave me those beautiful dark eyes for his entire session. Parents often ask for a few photos of their newborn with wide-awake eyes. His entire gallery was wide awake eyes. He had the most amazing eye contact and his personality, even at this young age, was already showing through.
I took everything he gave me on this day and was able to capture some beautiful images for his parents. I made sure I got a few of his little features as well.
Sometimes things don’t go as planned in newborn sessions.
Thankfully, I have enough experience that I am able to pivot quickly and change course based on what the baby is giving me. At the end of the day, I want to make sure I capture beautiful images of the baby that will be family keepsakes for years to come.
